Estate Guru just announced new features for advisors

Estate Guru held its first quarterly product update webinar this month, hosted by VP of Marketing Colten Tidwell. VP of Engineering Russell Palmiter, Head of Product Joanie Westwood, and Director of Customer Success Heather Amey joined him to walk through what the team has built this quarter, work that comes from advisors telling us where they're running into problems.

Features available to advisors this quarter

  • Lead management
  • Wealthbox integration
  • Referral opportunities
  • Digital and mobile notary
  • Document vault with AI summarization

How does Estate Guru's new lead generation feature help advisors

Estate Guru built its leads feature to help advisors grow their practice by attracting new clients. Estate Guru is the first estate planning platform to include pre-written marketing emails for advisors to send. These marketing emails have room for some customization, but reduce the need for advisors to draft marketing materials for estate planning themselves.

Estate Guru customers on either a standard subscription or an enterprise subscription (part of a white label) can use the new leads feature for marketing. The feature can be accessed through the platform as a tab at the top of the screen named “leads.”

Advisors can expect to save time and energy they’d spend building a pipeline by themselves.

How does Estate Guru’s Wealthbox integration help advisors

Estate Guru’s platform now includes a Wealthbox integration. Wealthbox is one of the top CRMs used by financial advisors. Those using the Estate Guru platform now can integrate Wealthbox without additional steps to import client information to or from our platform.

Estate Guru customers can now expect to reduce time and energy creating manual uploads and downloads between Wealthbox and our platform. Client information stays up to date, and advisors can easily identify which client has an estate plan and who can benefit from starting an estate plan.

What referral opportunities can advisors use Estate Guru to grow their practice

Estate Guru added two new referral methods to grow advisor referrals to grow their business by offering estate planning services to potential clients.

Grantor referrals

Grantor referrals (clients completing their estate plan) can now refer their loved ones before completing their estate plan. Current advisor clients completing estate plans will be stopped at a page that asks them to recommend a few people to create a plan for themselves.

Adopting this feature can be helpful, especially when the current client has seen how the advisor has helped them through the process and has just named several beneficiaries, trustees, and others close to them in their own estate plan. Asking for a referral when the client is already getting across the finish line keeps everyone’s names top of mind and makes it easier to receive referrals than asking out of nowhere.

Gift a plan referral

Grantors (clients completing their estate plan) can also pay for a plan for someone else, a new feature that only Estate Guru has done. Grantors can choose any person, relative or not, to gift a trust to. The gift receiver will get an email walking them through how to start their own plan. Once the receiver accepts the gift and begins the instructions in email, the advisor involved will also receive notification that the gift receiver would like to start the estate planning process.

For advisors, gift-a-plan referrals create new opportunities for growing their client base by offering additional opportunities to begin new client relationships.

Estate Guru offers digital and mobile notary options

Estate Guru offers digital and mobile notary options for advisors and their clients completing estate plans. Notarization is one of the last things standing between a drafted plan and a completed one, and finding someone who can notarize documents and arranging a time becomes its own hassle. Estate Guru now handles that inside the platform, which helps cut down on plans stalling out at the finish line and saves advisors from chasing down both a client and a notary separately.

When completing an estate plan through Estate Guru, the person will have the option to connect with a mobile notary or a digital notary (if in an eligible state).

A digital notary connects a client with a notary over video, without travel required for either the notary or client. Mobile notary means the client designates a time and place to meet a notary near their area to notarize documents at the place and time the client chooses.

Both the digital and mobile notary options are handled in the Estate Guru checkout for $299. Online notary is available in a handful of states as of now due to state laws. Mobile notary is available wherever Estate Guru currently operates.

Does Estate Guru’s platform use AI for document summaries

Using AI, Estate Guru can summarize key facts in any document uploaded to the platform, whether it’s an estate plan document created through the platform or somewhere else.

When a document is uploaded, a plain-English summary pulls key findings from the document, relevant to funding and key estate roles like beneficiaries and trustees.

Using the document upload and AI summarization matters for advisors in a few key ways. It means less time spent reading and identifying key facts for a client based on documentation. It also gives advisors a chance to quickly assess funding gaps, like a deed that was never retitled into a trust, and turn that into a conversation with the client.

Frequently asked questions

How can Estate Guru customers get access to Estate Guru’s new features

Want in early? Become a beta tester. Email beta@estateguru.com to get started.

How can Estate Guru customers learn more about new features

Ask your customer success manager. They work directly with the people behind each feature and can get you the answer, or connect you with whoever has it.

Which states allow a digital online notary service

Online notary availability depends on state law and changes as more states pass legislation allowing it. You'll see current availability for your state at checkout.

Can financial advisors on an enterprise subscription create and use their own leads

Yes. Enterprise subscription admins (white label subscriptions) can see leads across every advisor on the account, but each advisor with a team seat still creates and manages their own leads without needing to go through the admin first.

Can financial advisors customize payment for gift a plan

A gift a plan costs the same as the plan the person buying it is already paying for.

Our platform is attorney-led, which means we bring the attorney to you. Keep in mind: We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice–that’s what our in-network attorneys are for. While we work to make sure our information services are accurate, they’re meant as resources. Our materials and services don’t substitute for the advice of an attorney.
