Our new estate planning community for financial advisors

Estate Guru is launching an advisor community hosted on Slack for financial advisors building estate planning into their practice. This community was built to bring experts spread across the country together. Because the quality of this community depends on who is in it, membership requires an application. Our team reviews every request and approves access for those who meet our requirements.

We recognize the work that happens in the advisor's office. It shows up in every estate plan completed, every family that finally has a document in place, every client who leaves the meeting knowing their people are taken care of. Advisors understand early on how much this matters and have made it part of their practice.

For most, this has been a solo journey. A path built without a roadmap, because one didn’t exist. But these advisors kept going because they care deeply about their clients’ success. They think about a family’s assets today and what they could become. They play the long game because they see wealth not just as a number but as something that moves through families and across generations.

For financial advisors, the days of climbing the unknown estate planning hill alone are done. Just as our estate planning platform has served as a communication channel for advisors, attorneys, and clients to work together, we want to do something similar for the advisor whose knowledge, vision, and experience deserve a bigger room. These advisors who figured this out on their own built something the industry needs. Our community is exclusive to those experts.

Why financial advisors had to figure out estate planning alone, until now

Financial advisors who offer estate planning have largely built that expertise on their own. The profession has never provided a clear roadmap for navigating the legal boundaries, compliance questions, and client conversations that come with it.

For a long time, the path was simple and unquestioned. The advisor's job was to build a strong client relationship. Discuss their assets. Build a financial plan. Then hand them off to an attorney for the estate planning. That referral was considered the only path to getting a client’s estate plan done.

Some of our advisors started to question that. They watched clients get passed along through the referral system, and then the momentum was lost. They saw that these estate plans remained unfunded and untouched for years. They understood that the relationship they spent years building, the trust, the family situation, all of it, was exactly why estate planning needed to work. They were in the business of people, not asset amounts. So, they explored options, found a better way, and the work they’ve done since speaks for itself.

That path had its share of difficulties. Trial and error. Compliance questions without clear answers. Attorneys who thought and spoke differently. Clients with real questions and real timelines, and nobody to call. They figured it out the hard way.

The estate planning experience shapes who these advisors are today. Their experiences are firsthand. The do’s and don’ts, the compliance concerns, the conversation starters of estate planning. Those lessons became knowledge that no training manual could have provided. And the advisors who came through that process are some of the most resourceful, knowledgeable, and client-focused people in the profession. The conversations they had with clients changed. The relationships deepened. The practice reflected it.

These advisors felt more prepared to help clients. That value doesn’t stop with their own practice. It can help standardize how estate planning is done across the profession. One advisor’s hard-won answer becomes another’s starting point. The industry pushes forward. It all comes back to the same thing. Helping their clients build something that lasts beyond them.

Financial advisors are experts at the work. Many of them have done it for years, often when the odds were against them. Their expertise is the foundation of this community. It is what moves the industry forward. That’s why our community membership requires an application. The advisors who earn a spot here are no longer just members. They are joining an expert community found in one room.

As financial advisors step into this community, share expertise and experience. For example:

  • What would an experience financial advisor tell an advisor just starting to offer estate planning?
  • What do advisors wish someone had told them earlier?
  • How many problems have advisors solved the hard way that could have solved in an afternoon with the right people?
  • How do advisors find resources for compliance and state-specific laws?

How our advisor Slack community helps financial advisors better serve clients using estate planning software

Our advisor community helps financial advisors better serve clients using estate planning software. It connects them with other financial advisors who are doing the work at the same level. Members can share what works in practice, refine how they execute client conversations, and collaborate for more efficient client solutions.

Financial and estate planning conversations can be uncomfortable territory. The stakes are real because the numbers on the page represent what the client has built and someone they want to provide for. The questions are case-specific. The legal and compliance concerns are always present. These are real pressures.  When an advisor knows the right sources to find answers, the conversation stops being something to get through and starts being something they can lead.

That’s where execution changes. The advisor who knows where to turn does not lose momentum in a client meeting. The conversation has direction. Not just a list of options that leaves the client thinking it over for another six months.

Client wins come from a trusted working relationship. A conversation that has a clear outcome. A plan that gets completed. A client who leaves the meeting knowing exactly what they have and what it means for the ones they love. These are trust exercises between a client and their advisor. The client willingly brings more to the table. They refer the people they care about. The practice grows as the relationship does.

Technology is what makes execution possible at each stage. Research shows that clients are evaluating their advisors on the technology they use and how confidently they use it. The advisors who use estate planning software well do not just complete plans faster. They execute the whole client experience better.

The community is where advisors sharpen that edge together. Real questions with real use applications for clients.

Being part of this community comes with something else.

Members receive first access to many Estate Guru resources, like our quarterly research reports, webinars, and marketing materials.

What financial advisors experiences with client estate planning shape responses to these questions:

  • How do you introduce estate planning software in a client meeting for the first time?
  • What conversation starter actually moved a hesitant client forward?

The financial advisors we built our advisor Slack community for

Our advisor community was built for financial advisors who believe estate planning is one of the most important things they can offer their clients and are committed to getting better. These are practitioners who share what they know, learn from other industry professionals, and see collaboration as the thing that moves the industry forward.

Some of these advisors have been doing this work for years. They have the battle scars, the hard-won experience, and the client relationships that prove what is possible when an advisor commits to this space. Others may be earlier in this commitment. They all have a shared conviction. Getting serious about estate planning directly impacts their practice. It drives their growth and creates new opportunities for their clients.

What defines membership here is not how long an advisor has been doing this. It is what they’ve built through experience. They’ve seen how offering estate planning adds value to their work and the client. Every advisor goes through an application process. The quality of this space depends on who is in it. Approved members must be a financial advisor and maintain a complete profile including a current headshot, their full name, and their company’s name.

Being part of this financial advisor community means having a voice that shapes how it works in practice. The questions asked, the real-world problems they surface, the solutions shared, and the feedback they give. All of these influence what gets built next. They are not just members of a group. They are shaping what comes next.

The relationships formed in our community will go beyond a single conversation. They can become partnerships, collaborations, and connections that can define the next chapters of advisors and their clients.

Some of our most recognized members believe:

  • Exchanging knowledge makes the industry better
  • Collaboration is a competitive advantage
  • The best advisors never stop learning
  • Their practice and the future of the industry are worth investing in now

How financial advisors join our advisor Slack community

The answers already exist. They’ve been scattered across practices that have never been in the same room. Just sitting with advisors across the country who figured things out the hard way and never had anywhere to share it. Every solution kept to one practice is an opportunity the whole industry missed.

Our advisor community changes that. The knowledge, experience, and questions being asked in client meetings today now have a place to live.

To apply, submit a current work email and the advisor’s full name. Our team reviews each application and approves access for those who meet our requirements.

This is exclusively for licensed financial advisors who are here to push the industry forward. This is a space for experts, not selling services. Outside parties, vendors, and members who violate our community guidelines will be removed.

Our platform is attorney-led, which means we bring the attorney to you. Keep in mind: We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice–that’s what our in-network attorneys are for. While we work to make sure our information services are accurate, they’re meant as resources. Our materials and services don’t substitute for the advice of an attorney.
